South Shore Line trains to be replaced with buses between Carroll Ave. and Gary Airport

South Shore Line

More of the South Shore Line's route will be replaced with buses next week. The railroad says passengers will be bussed between Carroll Avenue and Gary/Chicago Airport Monday, August 1 through Friday, August 5.

Buses will make all regular stops according to the train schedule. A separate "loop bus" with its own schedule continues to serve the Beverly Shores and Michigan City 11th Street stations. Bikes will only be allowed from East Chicago west next week.

The bus replacement is part of the South Shore Line's Double Track project. It also involves longer-term busing between Carroll Avenue and Dune Park.
