A five-vehicle crash that shut down I-65 during the Monday afternoon rush hour is being blamed on distracted driving. Indiana State Police believe a Dodge Grand Caravan was heading south on I-65, just past 61st Avenue, when the driver apparently didn't notice that traffic had slowed down in front of him, causing a chain reaction crash.

More ramp closures are coming to I-80/94 and I-65. Over the next three weeks, a series of seven exit ramps will close, as crews conduct high friction surface treatment. It's designed to "decrease road slippage for motorists exiting the interstate," according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

One driver was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and another was taken to jail, after Indiana State Police say a new school bus rear-ended a semi on I-65. Troopers say it happened around 11:15 p.m. Thursday about two miles north of the Fair Oaks exit.
