  • Indiana Commission on Higher Education hosts the Indiana State of Higher Education address.
  • The United Way of Northwest Indiana will host their free First Time Home Buyers Fair April 27, 2024 at the Lake County Public Library in Merrillville. Northwest Indiana financial advisor Greg Hammer will share tips to help boost our financial IQ. The Indiana Commission on Higher Education recently hosted their State of Higher Education address.
  • The United Way of Northwest Indiana invites people interested in buying their first or next homes to their First Time Home Buyers Vendor fair on Saturday, April 27, 2024. The vendor fair, which is free to the public, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake County Public Library (main branch) in Merrillville.
  • The Indiana General Assembly concluded March 8, 2024 with 172 bills being sent to Governor Holcomb for his signature or veto. Legislators passed bills addressing child care access and affordability in Senate Enrolled Act 2 and House Enrolled Act 1102 along with priority legislation to address low 3rd grade reading test scores in Senate Enrolled Act 1. Overall, the legislature largely stayed true to their stated desire to keep a low profile in the midst of what will be a busy election year.   • The US labor market remains very strong, with job growth of 303,000 in March according to a survey of employers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, well above consensus expectations of around 200,000. Regionally Speaking host Dee Dotson is joined by PNC Financial Group economist Ershung Liang to get the latest local, statewide and national economic outlook.
  • The Whitney Reynolds Show will premiere Season 7 Monday, April 8, 2024 on Lakeshore PBS.
  • Lakeshore PBS, will present the new season of the Emmy-nominated series, the Whitney Reynolds Show Monday, April 8th. Graduating high school seniors have just a few days left to complete their FAFSA application. Bill Wozniak, INvestED Indiana Vice President of Communication and Student Services will join us. The Indiana General Assembly concluded March 8, 2024 with 172 bills being sent to Governor Holcomb for his signature or veto. We'll speak to Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch who will highlight a few of the bills that were passed into law.
  • The new documentary Walkable USA will be shown at a public screening April 4, 2024 at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond, Indiana. Tom Desch is the director and producer of the film.
  • The School Town of Munster is looking into acquiring the Center for Visual and Performing Arts. Lakeshore Public Media host Dee Dotson is joined by three leading voices as well as influencers in visual and performing arts in the Region to discuss what the sale could mean for arts in the Region. Among his many accolades Larry Brechner presently serves as the Chair of the Board for Lakeshore Public Media and was the former Center for Visual and Performing Arts Theatre Administrator as well as the former School Town of Munster Auditorium Director and host of Art on the Air which airs on Lakeshore Public Media. Dave Mika is the Executive Director for South Shore Arts and Northwest Indiana Symphony and is the current host of the Lakeshore Public Media original podcast Eye on Arts. John Cain, who served for more than 30 years as the arts director of South Shore Arts and the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra is newly retired and earned the distinguished tiled of director emeritus. John is also the former host of the Lakeshore Public Media podcast Eye on the Arts.
